Thomas and Abigail Brown Thornbrough Family
-------------------------------------------------------

Thomas Thornbrough, Jr., was son of Thomas and Sarah Thornbrough of Ireland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Although Thomas, Jr., is not mentioned in the will of Thomas, Sr., Quaker records in North Carolina place him as the son of Thomas, Sr. Thomas, Jr. married (1) Abigail Brown and (2) Martha Stanley.

In "Jefferson County, Tennessee Families and History 1792-1996," Richard Edwards includes the following in the history of his ancestor, Joseph Thornbrough, son of Thomas and Abigail Brown Thornbrough: "Abigail Brown was the daughter of James Brown, born 1681, Pennsylvania. In 1700, James and his brother, William, left New Castle, DE, and went thirty miles west, deep into the wilderness and established the Nottingham MM in now Cecil Co., Md. James Brown was the son of James Brown, 1656-1715, the immigrant. James Brown, the immigrant, married Honour Clayton, born 1662, Sussex, England, daughter of William Clayton. James Brown, the immigrant, was son of Richard Brown, circa 1610-1662, of Northamptonshire, England. Richard converted from Puritan to Quaker. Richard's father was John Brown, born circa 1580."
