The Wright Family

"Your tombstone stands among the rest neglected and alone;
The name and date have worn off the weathered marble stone.

It reaches out to all who care; it's now too late to mourn.
You did not know that I'd exist; you died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you, in flesh, in blood, in bone;
Our hearts contract and beat a pulse entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled some hundred years ago,
Spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so.

I wonder how you lived and loved; I wonder if you knew:
That someday I would find this place & come to visit you."

The history of the Wright Family starts with James Nickerson Wright and his wife, Nancy. Together they had eight children, six boys and two girls:

Squire Roderick
Elizabeth
Zadia Isabella
Isaiah Cullen
Samuel James
John Mac
Gideon Harrison
Adam Mitchel

Adam Mitchel Wright (and his twin, Gideon) were the youngest, and were born on February 16, 1845.

Adam married Josephine Barbara Laing in Leon County, Texas around 1869, and together they had five children:

Raymond Gideon
James Thomas
Sarah Lizzie
William Melvrie
Mattie Josephine

The oldest son, Gideon Raymond Wright married Olar Conner and their first child, a girl, was born December 6, 1894 in Indian Territory.

This little girl, known as Eula Tennie Wright was my grandmother.
