WELCH of Pilsdon

My link into the Welch of Pilsdon is through my great great grandmother, Elizabeth Welch, bap 28-Oct-1839 in Pilsdon, Dorset. Her father is Joseph Welch, bap 10-Apr-1808 in Pilsdon, Dorset. His Father is William Welch poss born bef 1779 in Bridport, Dorset. That is as far back as I have been able to trace this Welch family of Pilsdon.

There is another family from Pilsdon as well, which I have been unable to link into my line at present. This would be descendants of Benjamin Welch and Mary Baker. I do believe that they are related as several of both lines moved over to the USA. They all seem to be around each other on the USA census'.

The Welch surname seemed to dominate the Pilsdon parish throughout the census' from 1841 to 1861, by 1871 they seemed to either have moved on. The move to the USA seemed to have started around late 1850's through to

Being that this site is for my research of the surname of Welch, any children of any generation that contain a different surname from birth, have been removed. I know that they are initially of Welch descent but I have my own website that contain these details.

My main goal for this site is to try and connect these two Welch families.
