Story tidbits

After the death of Julia's sister-in-law, Julia took care of her brother's (Christopher) children each day while he would work or search for work. He would give his sister a small amount of money each day to feed them. My great grandmother Julia couldn't believe she was able to feed the children on the small amount of money she got, but she did.

My mother said Julia lived in a little apartment and they would go there for some holidays. She said my great grandmother would sit in her rocking chair and rock me when I was a baby. Great Grandma Julia would say to my mother "her arms ached and felt empty when she didn't have a baby in them."
