Obit: Funeral services for Marvin James Boyd of Camp Wood will be held today at 10 a.m. at Trinity Full Gospel Church in Camp Wood.Interment will follow in Camp Wood Cemetery. The Rev. Vernor and the Rev. Carney will officiate. Boyd died Oct. 22, 2007, at Life Care Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 79. He was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Glasscock County, Texas, to Scott and Martha Boyd. Boyd's mother died when he was 12 years old, and he was on his own at 14. He spent much of his life in the Big Spring area, where he met Lavenia Faye Long. They married May 24, 1946.They moved to the Hill Country in 1978, and she preceded him in death in 1988. Boyd then married again on June 3, 1989. In addition to his first wife, and his mother, Boyd was also preceded in death by his father; one sister; and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, of Riverton, Kan.; two daughters, of Big Spring; two sons, of Vanderpool and of Melvin, Texas; three stepsons; two stepdaughters; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
