Note: TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY. Texas Lutheran University, in Seguin, traces its origin to 1891, when the First Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Texas founded the Evangelical Lutheran College of Brenham, Texas. The Reverend Gottlieb Langner served as its first president.

He married (1) MARIE NEUMANN Abt. 1892. She was born 05 Oct 1863 in Mallmitz, Silesia, and died 24 Jan 1897 in Brenham, Texas.

John Herbert Langner
Obit: John Herbert Langner, 88, of Uvalde, TX. Died January 29, 2013/born May 18, 1924 in Knippa, TX to Daniel and Bertha Langner. Langner served in the United States Army in the Philippines during WWII as a corporal in the 38th Division on Luzon, 149th Infantry. He was a rifleman in the Avengers of Baton and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action against the enemy on Luzon. He was awarded the Combat-Infantry badge, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Campaign medal with a battle star. After the war, Langner met the love of his life and married Pauline Hulett on October 28, 1948. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, one son, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and six sisters. Burial: Knippa Cemetery.
