Charles Jefferson Fletcher and Mary Elizabeth (Mollie) Davis. These families lived and worked in about a 30 square mile area of SW Bandera County, NE Uvalde County and S Real County. These counties all join. Towns were: Uvalde, Sabinal, Utopia, Vanderpool, Leakey, Reagan Wells, Concan, Bandera, Campwood. (Updated 3/23/2016)

      Charlie and Mollie were married 9-15-1904, Bandera Co TX. He was barely 19 and she not quiet 18. Aunt Mollie had 6 children and lost 3 children as infants. It was tragic when Charlie died suddenly in the spring of 1914 leaving Mollie with 3 young sons. They were married less than 10 years when Charlie was stricken with an acute illness. (Death Cert: cause of death urimic poison) Family said, it could have been appendicitis or 'brites disease'. Charley is buried near his parents in the Jones Cemetery north of Utopia, TX.
      There are 4 Fletcher stones: Charles J. Fletcher 1885\1914; Isaac N. Fletcher 1850\1913; Virginia 1853\1939; Theddosia 1880\1906. (I feel sure Isaac's middle name was Newton. SRC)

      The 1900 Uvalde Co census lists: Fletcher, Isaac N. b.11-1850 TX, a farmer, married 23 years, parents from MO & ILL.; wife: Virginia, b.4-1853, MO., parents from MO & MO.; Robert W., 4-1878; Ludenia, b.12-1879; James R., b.7-1883; Charles J., b.8-1885; Minnie P., b.1-1888. Charles Jefferson Fletcher was Mollie's fist husband.

The photo is Aunt Mollie and James. James W. Evans was Mollie's second husband. "He was 60 and she 29 in 1920 census Concho Co TX " which also listed her sons: Hollis, 12 and Isaac, 7. (We don't know much about Mr. Evans other than "he owned a grocery in Eden, TX and Mollie had children to feed. He was 25 years older than Mollie. She worked in the store." 1985 conversation with Maggie Williams.)

Wm. & Mary Jane Calloway moved to TX about l848 and are in l850 Navarro Co Census. Wm. K. Fletcher died during the Civil War and his widow later married his older brother, Drury Fletcher. They and their two children are on the l880 Parker Co. Census.

The six year old Isaac N. Fletcher, grandson of Isaac N. b.1850, is buried in Utopia. He is listed with Isaac N. and Virginia on the l880 Bandera Co. TX Census...he was the father of Jesse Fletcher who was president of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX during l980/90.

Evans, James W. age 60, abt 1860, GA, GA, GA, merchant, general merchandise, home: owned, Able to read and write: Yes; wife Mary E. age 29, abt 1891 of TX, clerk in store (Molly was born in 1886.); stepson Hollis Fletcher, 12, abt 1908, TX; stepson Isaac Fletcher, 7, abt 1913, TX. #86-168a. (James Virgil Fletcher b.1906 is not found with family. However, January 7, 1920 census Coryell County Texas, State Juvenile Training School list a Virgel Fletchard, 13 years old, born in Texas, father born in US, mother born in Texas, inmate, student. This may or may not be related.)

is John W. Evans, 65, 1855, TX, US, MO, city marshall in Eden/wife Camille 60, TX, Miss, TX. (John is right age to be a brother to James Evans except John was born in TX.)

1930 census: cannot find J W Evans or Mary E. Evans. I do have in my scribbled notes that Hollis and Isaac were in Jim Wells county in 1930 census. Not sure of this.
Cannot find death of James W Evans.
Found Mary E. Evans death in 12-25-1958 Campwood, Real Co., TX

Not sure if either of these deaths are of our James W. Evans. Both counties are near Concho County.
