Buddy's Aquarium

Buddy's Fish Have a Reunion

Home

Here is the banquet room
of the Fincastle Hotel
It is on the 7th floor.

And it has a view!

Buddy's goldfish have grown up and left home.

Buddy has taught them well and given them good educations.

They all have good jobs and have been working hard.

They are so glad to have this reunion.

They will get to see everyone again -- and especially Buddy.

Here is Richie. He is the first to arrive.

He remembers Goldie and Flash
and Spot 2 and Spot 1 and Blackie.

I hope everyone is coming,
he says to himself.

Especially Buddy.

This is so great!

Here comes Flash.
And is that Goldie with him?

Yes, it is!

How glad he is to see his friend.

She is glad to see him, too.

She floats around to show her lovely tail.

Soon Spot2 arrives
and Flash meets him at the door.

They visit together,
catching up on old times
in the nursery aquarium.

There was a good bit of mingling ...

...  and chatting ...

... and then ...

Goldie stuck her head out the window to enjoy the view
from the seventh floor.

Oh, LOOK! she called
to them.

 I think I see Buddy!!

They all hurried to the window.

Where? Where?

They looked hard,
but they could not see him.

They left the window, disappointed.
Buddy was not there.

Was he coming?

And where was Blackie?

And Spot1?

There were six in their nursery class,
and only four were here.

Goldie, what are you doing?

I lost my contact, she said.

Maybe it fell out the window.

Not funny, Richie.

Goldie spoke up.

May I have your attention, please?

It is time for announcements.
She was squinting with one eye without her contact.

I have received a message by transpacific cable that Spot1 will not be attending tonight.

I know we will miss him, but he is in Japan, assisting the renown ichthyologist and author Zhu Yu-An Mee in the new edition of his book, All that Glitters Actually Is -- The hidden treasure of goldfish.

And also from the cable, this message is from Blackie, who writes that he is testing experimental survival gear in a koi pond outside of Inverness and currently has no "access to egress." His words.

Ha. Funny. That Blackie.

All laughed.

And I just moments ago received a cell call from Buddy.

He can't be here because he is at Granddaddy's.

Ahhhhhh.... everyone said. They all knew Granddaddy.

Buddy said to tell you he is so proud of all of you and loves you all and misses eating your food

He promises to see you again one day.

We are sorry we can't see Buddy.

But I am so glad he called.

How great to hear from him.

Yes, eating our food was one of his favorite things.

Speaking of eating...

The seafood buffet is ready and all head to the dining room.

Can you imagine testing survival gear? asked Flash. Imagine swimming with koi.
It gives me the finnie-innies to think of it.

After eating, everyone swapped addresses and took photos.

Goldie wanted a group shot.

Everybody line up for the picture! called Spot2.

Smile!

The game is on on the big screen tv
in the corner of the room.

Spot2 was so excited because his team was winning.

But Richie and Goldie's team was way behind.

Much later ...

All agreed the reunion was a great success.

Let's leave, Goldie. I am tired, said Spot2. I have to leave for Buenos Aires tomorrow.

What are you doing, anyway?

I'm still looking for my contact, said Goldie.

I wish Buddy had come, said Richie from behind Spot2.

Don't you worry about Buddy, said Spot2. He's doing just fine at Granddaddy's.

We'll see him again another day.

A note from hotel management.

While the Fincastle Hotel enjoyed hosting the first reunion of the Buddy Nursery Class, it sadly reports it will not in the future be able to accommodate this group.

This is due to the fact that our conference room is too small to meet the needs of what will surely be more, uh, prominent, shall we say, members next year.

We wish them well in their chosen careers.
