Jan. 10MonThe Rainer girl burned to death at Johnny Devine's by clothes catching fire under soap kettle in the yard. She lived 23 hours.
Jan. 11TueReceived invitation to attend John Lindsay's wedding anniversary to be held January 14th at Manley's.
Jan. 29SatHeard this evening of the illness of Emma Naughton from pneumonia. Was attended by priest and doctor.
Feb. 9WedHeard of the death of Mrs. Pat Dwyre. She died suddenly, though sick with cancer for some time.
Feb. 14MonHeard today of the death of Mrs. Martin Devine this evening. She died at 8 p.m.
Feb. 15TueMrs. Martin Devine buried today in Osceola. Funeral held at Mitchell church.
Feb. 17ThurAuction at George Alcox' today.
Feb. 22TueIgnatius Donnelly and Miss Marion Hanson of Minnesota were married.
Feb. 25FriLast day of Parnell school by Miss Lamb.
March 3ThurYoung Tommy Manley buried today at Mitchell.
March 6SunHeard today of the death of Mrs. Reilly at Seattle, Washington. She was a daughter of Jas. Mangan of Bear Lake.
March 12SunRegistered letter to New York for Mrs. Bat Donohue with $4.00 inclosed.
March 21MonThe Assyrian peddlar here all night.
March 22TueJas. Mangan auction at Bear Lake today. Girl baby born to John Gaynor's today.
March 24ThurAuction at McBride's. Tim Clifford had Bart arrested for assault.
April 5TueTown Meeting. Elected: Chairman, Mangan; Sups., Slattery and Bilgo; Treasurer, Burke; Clerk, Rooney; Assessor, Reddington.
April 6WedJohnny Bowen's barn, granary and horse stables and grain burned down. The fire caught from Brogan and Heraty engine that was there sawing wood. He lost all his hay, grain, binder, seeds, cutter and some harnesses.
April 8FriOld Pat Fitzgerald of Osceola died.
April 9SatOld Mrs. Prindeville died tonight.
April 10SunEloquent sermon preached by Deacon Phelim Hughes.
April 11MonMrs. Joe Tracy buried at Mt. Pleasant.
April 16SatWillie Connell died at 6:05 a.m. John Connell and Dan went to Plymouth for coffin. Old Mrs. Harvey died yesterday. Buried at Mt. Pleasant on April 12, 1898, ae. 86. (Either the date is wrong for the entry or for the burial - K.R.)

April 30SatOld Man Fee died and Mrs. Cox of Osceola.
May 3TueOld Pat Cain of Russell buried today.
May 4WedHeard of the death of Mrs. John Malloy, to be buried at Mitchell on Friday.
May 11WedMrs. Peter Hand buried in cemetery at Plymouth.
May 30MonHeard at Plymouth today of Jerry Murphy being cut and slashed with a knife at Sheboygan last night, and not expected to live.

June 19SunJohnny Gibbons died at 3 a.m. at house of Peter Murphy of consumption in his 40th year. Phelim Hughes ordained today at Milwaukee.
June 20MonWent to Osceola to see Father Downs about saying mass for John Gibbons and to Jim O'Brien's about the well which caved in with a terrible crack.
July 3SunHeard of the sudden death of one of John Murray's boys.
July 12TueA Mr. Ryan of Sheboygan and Mary Gannon were married today.
July 19Tue98 degrees at noon.
Aug. 20SatHeard this evening of the burning of Florence Lindsay by the dropping, breaking, and igniting of a kerosene lamp.
Aug. 28SunMrs. Coughlin, George Lindsay's sister from New York, passed through here on her way to see the Beaucage's.
Aug. 31WedAfter breakfast, I went over to see Maggy Alberts. Saw there, Mrs. Coughlin and her son and Mrs. Lena Alberts of Chicago.

Oct. 4TueFrank Beaucage was killed this p.m. by falling from a load of bags on his wagon, east of O'Brien's, Osceola. 55 years old, born in lower Canada.
Nov. 26SatMrs. Michael Mugan died.
Nov. 29TueRequiem High Mass for Mrs. Michael Mugan by Reverend Charles Mugan and Reverend Father Lyons of Chicago and Father Miller of Russell.
