The mention of sister Elizabeth Thomas as being involved in the conspiracy w/ brother Thomas, may be pertinent to the fact that two of the witnesses to Edward Darnall's will had the surname Thomas, (and the third, a North). The two Thomas witnesses are John Thomas and Thomas Thomas. One of John Darnall's children (see below) was a Thomas Thomas Darnall, so it is possible that his wife Rachel was also a Thomas: Will of Edward Darnall Sr.. (Note: An original William Thomas had land transactions with an Andrew Watkins, with whom a Nicholas Rawlings also had dealings, witnessing a deed Watkins wrote in Virginia. Nicholas Rawlings also resided for a time in Charles County, Md. ) An Edward Darnall, thought to be this Edward Darnall Jr., signs a petition in what is now Montgomery County, in 1756 (c. May). His signature appears right under that of a Hugh Robey, and a Jonathan Markland, who is witness to Justice John Rawlings Will, in September 1756, is also a signatory of this petition.

Thomas Thomas Darnall

Notes for Thomas Thomas3 Darnall: (John2, Edward1) born 1733 in Charles County, Maryland, and died July 07, 1825 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. He married (1) Susannah Abt. 1751. She died December 13, 1793. He married (2) Elizabeth Cogswell October 26, 1819 in Nicholas, Bourbon County, Kentucky. A Susannah was named in John Soper's will in 1758, establishing the marriage as in or prior to that year. [A recent claim is that Susannah married Isaac, elder brother of Thomas; that nowhere is the given name of his son-in-law mentioned by John Soper.] This claim seems to be definitely established (H.C.S.). Thomas Thomas Darneille was in Albemarle County, Va., in 1773, as his son Archelaus (later Archibald) was born there at that time (family legend). Was with George Rogers Clark (also of Albemarle Co., Va.) in his campaign against the Wabash Indians and at the capture of Vincennes. For this he received "scrip," as shown by its later transfer for $13.33. In 1783 he received, as Thomas Darnel, a grant of 400 acres of land lying in what is now Bourbon Co., Ky., about one and one-half miles northwest of N. Middleton in that county, and some five or six miles southeast of Paris, Ky. It lies at the junction of Scott Creek and Stoner's Fork of the Licking River, and was known as "The Springs"; there being three large springs in the immediate vicinity of the original home site. He died 7 July 1825 in Bourbon County, Ky. On 3 October 1825, following his death, his widow Elizabeth, deeded to the heirs of Thomas T. Darnall, Nancy Parks, Susannah Howard, Rebecca Wychoff, Thomas Darnall, Jr., Barton Darnall, heirs of Hinzie Darnall, dec'dand John Darnall any claims she might have on the estate. "Dd. Bk.S, p. 157, Bourbon Co., Ky."
