John BLANK & Jane MYERS


1. John BLANK was born about 1780-1789. His parents were John and Sarah BLANK. He received a legacy from the estate of Thomas HENDERSON as did his brother, James BLANK, and sister, Rachel KIP. He may have been identical with the John Benson Crum BLANK, son of John & Sarah BLANK, b. Nov 15, 1783, bapt Nov 20, 1783 Trinity Church; witnesses: John Benson CRUM, John BLANK, Hannah CRUM. John is listed in city directories of New York City as a sailmaker. He was last listed in the 1826/1827 directory at 168 Greene Street. No death record was found in the Manhatten Register of Deaths up to 1843.

John married Jane MYERS, who was born about 1791 and died 6 Jan 1839 in New York City; residence 154 Orchard Street. She was buried in the Methodist Society Cemetery at the corner of First Street and Second Avenue. Between 1854 and 1856 some 15,000 remains were removed and sent to Cypress Hills Cemetery but Cypress Hills has no records of these individuals. Jane was listed in the 1827/1828 directory of New York City as a laundress at 168 Greene Street. This was the only year her name appeared. Jane MYERS BLANK was christened in the Methodist Church as an adult in January 1829.
John and Jane had the following children:
  2 F i Catherine BLANK, born about 1813 is placed in this family by circumstantial evidence. On 28 Sep 1831 Catherine BLANK, age 18, married Ezra THORPE, age 19. Two children christened in the Methodist Church were:

Jane Amanda THORP born 31 Jan 1837
       
  3 F ii Emeline BLANK was born 10 Mar 1815 in New York City. She married Richard Smirk(e) RUSSELL 12 Dec 1838 in New York City. Witnesses were: Ann Eliza BLANK and T.? BENNETT.  Almost immediately they moved on to Pinegrove, Venango, PA where their children were born and later removed to Pleasant Grove, Olmsted, MN.  Richard died 6 Apr 1878 and Emeline died 12 Apr 1888. Both are buried in Union Evergreen Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, MN.
       
  4 F iii Ann Eliza BLANK was born 27 Jan 1817 in New York City. She married Francis FOWLER, age 21,  26 Dec 1839 in New York City. Witnesses were: James BLANK and Mary Ann HARRIS. They settled in Yonkers, Westchester, NY where Francis was a jeweler. Their children listed in the 1850 census were:
Frederick, George, James, Frances A. and John
 
  5 F iv Mary Jane BLANK was born 16 Jun 1822 in New York City. She was christened in July of 1822. Nothing further has been learned of her. Death records for 1822-1826 have not been checked.
       
  6 F v Amanda Malvina BLANK was born 10 Jul 1824 in New York City. She joined her sister Emeline in Venango Co., PA where she married (1) Robert Elliot HARPER 31 Dec 1844. Robert died 18 Oct 1865 Weathersfield, Trumbell, OH. Their children were:
David, Leona, Ella, James, Emeline and William.
Amanda married (2) Joseph L. AUTEN 30 Jul 1868 in Trumble Co., OH. Amanda died 30 Dec 1896 in Bloomfield, Trumble, OH and is buried in Center Cemetery.
       
  7 M vi James BLANK -- It is not certain that there was a son James in this family. John BLANK had a brother named James. Emeline, Ann Eliza and Amanda each used the name, James, in naming their children. A James BLANK witnessed the marriage of Ann Eliza and Francis FOWLER. A James BLANK and wife Jane had a daughter, Amanda M. BLANK who was born February 1851 and died 21 Jan 1855, residence 2 Patchin Place, Amos St. Also, Jane, wife of James BLANK died 30 Jan 1858 age 31 yrs 9 mo 6 dys -- relatives & friends of the family and members of Corinthian Lodge #5 F & AM, Harrison Guard & Insurance Patrol ...
