In the Name of God amen I George Irish of Middletown in the County of Newport Esqr Being Weak in Body but of Sound Disposing mind & memory do mak [sic] and ordain this to Be my Last will and testament ---------------------

Imprimus I order all my Just debts & funeral expenses to be paid by my Executors within a Reasonable time after my decase [sic]

Item I give and devise to my Son Joseph Irish one equal undivided Morety or half part of a Certain farm in Stonington in Connecticut Called the Benja Clarke farm butted Bounded & Described according to Deed thereof as By Reference thereto will appear Containing about three hundred and thirty acres be the Same more or less & is Now occupyed by Sands Cole (?) to him his heirs and assigns forever

Item I Give and devise unto my Son Judediah Irish one Equal undivided morty of the Same farm above described lying in Stonington in Connecticut to him his heirs and assigns forever

Item I give and Devise to my said Son Jedediah Irish the Lotts of Land and buildings thereon in Newport in the County of Newport which I purchased of Edward Perry Now in the sd Jedediahs possession to his heirs and assigns forever

Item I give and Devise to my Son James Irish Two Tracts of Land in Richmond in the County of Washington one Called the old Bailey farm on the South side of the highway Containing about one hundred & five acres with the Buildings & orchards thereon the other Tract of Land Containing of Two lots one Called the Richard Bailey lot and the other the Ellery phillips lot on the North Side of the Same Highway Both Containing about one hundred & Twenty one acres Be the Same more or less with Buildings & orchards thereon to him his heirs & assings forever this Devise I make however upon this Condition that James mak [sic] and execute within a Reasonable time after demand made a good quit Claim of his third part of a Certain lot in middletown aforesd Called the John green lot on the North side of the Highway on the Cart road Being fourteen acres more or less to William Bailey his heirs & assigns forever who is Now in possession of the Same the Consideration already Being paid

Item I Give and devise to my Son John Irish a Certain Tract of Land in middletown aforesd Containing about Sixty acres Be the Same more or less Called the Redwood farm With the Buildings erected & to Be ercted [sic] thereon to him his heirs & assigns forever Subject however to a life estate thereon to my Beloved wife Sarah Irish which She holds by Deed from george Irish Junor [sic] & his wife, But this devise to my Son John is upon this Condition that the Said John within a reasonable time after demand made make & Execute a good Quit Claim Deed of his part in the Said John Green lot in said Middletown aforsd described to William Bailey aforesd his heirs and assigns forever Who is now in possession of the Same the Consideration Being already paid

Item I Give and devise to my Daughter Rebecca Bowler & to my three grandsons Charles Bowler george Bowler & William Bowler a Certain Tract of Land in Hopkintown in the County of Washington Being a part of the Ellery Tract of land so Called Bounded Easterly on a pathway Leading or cross Schoo__ Hill So Called Running Nearly North & South & Extending westerly of Said path the whole width of the Tract of Land Called the Ellery Tract as aforesd to a line Running about north & South twenty Rods to the Westward of Benjamin Kinyons Barn including a young orchard directly West of said Barn Said Line to Extend across the whole of sd Ellery Tract Begining about one mile the South End of Said Line to Be a Bunch of Chestnut Trees Near the South Boundary of the Ellery Tract & thence Extending Nearly in a Northwestern direction So as to take unto the devise a young orchard lying about South from sd barn & Extending thence to about Twenty Rods West of said Barn So as to take in the orchard lying west of said barn as aforesaid & thence about due North to the Northern Boundary of said Ellery tract the Said Chestnut Trees ___ and a Spring arising out of a ____k the Said Line to Be So Run as to accomodate [sic] the sd Spring to the Devise & also to the land Lying Westward I give and Devise the aforedescribed lands as follows one equal undivided morty thereof to my daughter Rebecca Bowler for and During her Natural Life Remainder to my Said Grandsons Charles George & William their heirs and assigns forever to Be Equally divided Between them and the other equal undivided half part to my said three grand Sons to them their heirs & assigns forever to Be equally divided between them

Item I Give and Devise to my said Daughter Rebecca Bowler & my said Grand Sons Charles george and William a Certain Tract of Land in sd Hopkintown Containing about forty five acres be the Same more or less Called the Hoxsie Lot Which I purchased of Benjamin Kinyon one morety to the said Rebecca for and During her Natural Life Remainder to my said grand sons to their heirs and assigns forever to be equally divided Between them the other morety to my said Grand Sons their heirs and assigns forever to Be Equally divided Between them: & these two Devises to my Said daughter & Grandsons are upon Condition that they pay to my Grand Daughter Sarah Bowler & Rebecca Bowler five hundered dollars Each on their Coming to the age of Twenty five years respectively. to Be paid on their proportion the Said Rebecca to pay one hundred Dollars to Each equally Between them = Said Condition to Several & Not Joint. that is the estate to Each is given on the Condition that Each pay her or his proportion as above mentioned

Item I Give and Devise unto my Son Joseph Irish aforesd Two thirds undivided parts of a Certain Tract of Land in said Hopkinton Bounded Easterly above my daughter Rebecca bowler & my Grand Sons Charles george & William Bowler aforesd & Extending Westerly the whole width of What is Called the Ellery Tract to Land Called the Sheffield & Kinyon Lands Being Two thirds of the whole of my Lands in Which is Called the Ellery Tract to the westward of the Lands therein above devised to my Daughter & Grand Sons as aforesd to them his heirs and assigns forever & to my grand Son George Irish son of Benjamin Irish by my Daughter Martha Irish the other undivided third part of the sd last described tract to him his heirs & assigns forever

Item I Give and Devise to my Son Joseph Irish a Certain Tract of Land in Hopkintown Containing about forty five acres be the Same more or Less Called the Bliven lot with Buildings thereon to him his heirs & assigns forever

Item I give & Bequeath unto my Son John Irish a Certain tract of Land in sd Hopkintown Containing about one hundred acres Be the Same more or less purchased of Rowland Crandal & Joseph Sprague as by the Deeds will fully appear to him his heirs and assigns forever

Item I Give and devise unto my Grand Sons Elias Irish & John Irish Children of my daughter Martha Irish a Certain Tract of Land in Said Hopkintown Called the Peleg Kinyon farm Containing about two Hundred acres Be the Same more or less with onhands(?) & Buildings thereon to them their heirs & assigns forever to be equally divided Between them

Item I give and devise unto Bartholomew phillips youngest Son of John and Elizabeth phillips two Lots or tracts of Land in Richmond one of sd Tracts Contains about Two acres with a house & other Buildings thereon purchased of ______ & the other of sd Tracts Contains about fifty acres be the Same more or less purchased of Robert James to him his heirs & assigns forever Subject hereon to a Life Estate Which I hereby devise hereunto his Mother Elizabeth Phillips

Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Phebe Irish Two thousand dollars one third to be paid in Two years one third in three years & one third in four years after my decease one thousand Dollars thereof to Be paid by my Son Jospeh five hundred dollars thereof by my Son Jedediah Two hundred Dollars thereof by my Son James & three hundred thereof by my Son John in Consideration of the Estate devised to them Respectively

Item I give & Bequeath to my Daughter Patience Irish a Comfortable maintainance [sic] & Support to Be Constructed by each Devisee thereof in proportion to the value of the property divided to be proportion & assessed by my Executors herein after Named in Justice & Equity according to their Best Skill & Discreation [sic]

Item I order and direct that my Executors herein after named to pay my Debts out of my personal Estate: But if my personal estate should not Be Sufficient therefor I order my sd Executors to receive the rents & profits of all the Land in Hopkintown & Richmond Called the phillips farm farm not herein before devised & to appropriate the Same towards the payments of my Debts = and if the Same together with my personal Estate & Should not Be Sufficient for the payment of my debts & Settlement of my estate as fast as the Same must Settled I order my executors to Sell So much of sd Land as Shall Be Sufficient for said purposes & hereby authorize them to Give deed or Deeds to the purchaser or purchaser to Vest the Title thereof & to appropriate the proceed of sd Sale(?) to sd purpose

Item after the payment of my debts & Settlement of my Estate I Give and devise to my Daughter Martha Irish & her four Daughters Hannah Mary Sarah & Phebe the Residue of sd described lands in hopkintown and Richmond Which my Executors are empowered above to Sell in Case(?) of Necessity for and for and during the Term of the Natural life of my sd Daughter Martha

Item I give and devise to my grandsons who my be Living at the decease of my daughter & Children of my sons James Joseph Jedediah & John the Remainder of the hereby Last above divison to my Daughter & her four daughters to them their heirs & assigns forever to Be Equally divided Between them

Item I give and devise to William Bailey my son in Law one undivided third part of the Jn's Green lot in said Middletown Now in his possession to him his heirs & assings forever

Item I Give to my Daughter Sarah Bailey one hundred Dollars to Be paid in Two years after my Decase [sic] by my Executors herein after Named

Item I Give to my Daughter Mary Bailey one hundred Dollars to Be paid in Two years after my Decase [sic] by my sd Executors

Item I give to my Sarah Ann Bailey & Patience Bailey and to my Grand Sons John Bailey Wm Bailey George Bailey & Isaac Bailey ten Dollars each to Be paid they they shall Respectively reach the age of twenty one years

Item All the rest & Residue of my estate Real & Personal I Give & devise unto my Son John Irish to him his heirs & assigns forever

Item I Give to my Black man Jupiter his freedom after my descase [sic] & a home with any one of my Sons Whom ever he may Choose to Live with

And whereas it may Seem Strange that my Loving wife & my Son George are not Maid [sic] Devises of any thing hereby I think fit to declare that my wife has been ampley provided for in the Estate Convayed [sic] by me to my son George & by him Convayed [sic] to my wife for Life & which was understood by her & meant in lieu(?) & Satisfaction of Dower & power of thirds to my whole Estate & pray her to Continue to consider the Same accordingly & that my Son George is provided for in the Sale of my Estate to him Where he now lives

Lastly I Nominate & appoint Nicholas Taylor Esqr my Two Sons George Irish Jr & John Irish Lathan Hull Esqr of Stoningtown Elisa R Potter Esqr to Be my Executors of this my Last Will and Testament But it is to Be understood that this appointment is not operate to Cancel any Demand of any Kind that I have or may have or that my estate may have against my sd Executors or Either of their & their aceptance [sic] of this trust is to Be so understoon by them & for their trouble & Services they are to receive a Reasonable Compensation out of my Estate

In Witness whereof I the said George Irish have hereunto set my hand & seal this Seventh day of October AD Eighteen hundred & one AD 1801

The afore going Last Will and Testament of George Irish Late of Middletown Esqr Decd Was Exhibited in a Court of Probate held in Said Middletown October ye 19th AD 1801 for probate and Jonathan Easton Edward Thurston & Asher Robbins Esqr Witnesses to the Will all Appeared in Said Court and on their Solemn Engagement declared that they Saw George Irish the testator Sign Seal & declare Said Will to Be his Last Will & testament & that in his presents & in the presents of Each other they Signed as Witnesses thereto and at the Same time the Testator Was in his Sound mind & memory Which will Voted proved and approved of by said Court according to Law Witness Elisha Allen Clerk of C.P.
