25 May 1795 -- Will of Bryant Lester senr. Of Lunenburg Co:
To son Frederick Lester, tract where testator lives (ca225 ac adj. W. Cowan, Peter Epes, plant patch branch, Pamplin [formerly Henry Blagrave senr.], Juniper Crk, near mill ridge road. John Lock, Henry Pamplin, small Negro boy Len, looking glass; to wife during widowhood, her right in said land, negroes Joe, Lydia, Lucy, 3 choise cows/calves, 10 hogs, 6 sheep, 2 feather beds/furniture, 2 beasts Oald Dimond & Young Dimond, all household furniture except beds; over plush to be sold to pay debts at her death or marriage; balance of estate (except land) divided equally to his children John Henry Lester, Archer Lester, excepting Ermin Richards; to sons Bryand and Henry Lester, all land on N side Juniper Crk to son Frederick�s line. Henry to take lower end including mill but testator�s wife Sarah shall have 1/3 of mill during widowhood); to son Samuel W. Bush during his life, negro James, bed/furniture, to take care of testator�s son Frederick Lester and then to sd Frederick; to son Archer Lester, all tract bgt of Jno. Will of Bryant Lester, Jr of Lunenburg County, Va

From copy of original will:
In the name of God Amen. I Bryant Lester of the County of Lunenburg and State of Virginia being sensible of the frailty of man and uncertainty of life do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others in manner and form following (*viz) First it is my will and desire that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid.
Item I here by confirm unto my Daughter Fancy Welch the property I have heretofore given her amounting in my estimation to wither money paid one hundred and fifty pounds.
Item I hereby confirm unto my son Richard Lester the property I have heretofore given him amounting in my estimation to one hundred and thirty pounds.
Item I hereby confirm unto my son Bryan Lester the property I have heretofore given him amounting in my estimation to one hundred and thirty pounds.
Item I hereby confirm unto my Daughter Nancy Smithson the property I have heretofore given her amounting in my estimation to one hundred and fifteen pounds.
Item I hereby confirm unto my son Henry Lester the property I have heretofore given him amounting in my estimation to one hundred and thirty pounds.
Item hereby confirm unto my Daughter Mary Crenshaw the property I have heretofore given her amounting in my estimation to one hundred and fifteen pounts.
Item I hereby confirm unto my Daughter Charlott Chaney the property I have heretofore given her amounting in my estimation to one hundred and fifteen pounds.
Item I hereby confirm unto son Frederick Lester the property I have heretofore given him amounting in my estimation to one hundred and thirty pounds.
Item I hereby confirm unto my son Benjamin F. Lester the property I have heretofore given him amounting in my estimation to one hundred and thirty pounds.
Item I hereby confirm unto my son Whitfield Lester the property I have heretofore given him amounting in my estimation to one hundred thirty pounds.
Item it is my will and desire that my land be sold and credit of one and two years and the residue of my estate at one year credit and the money arising therefrom to be disposed of in the following maner.
(viz) Whereas in my estimation the property I have given to my sons amounts to fifteen pounds more than the property given to my daughters it is my will that each of my daughters aforenamed to have an adition of the sum of fifteen pounds to make them equal with my sons and then the residue of the money arising from the sale of the aforenamed estate real and person to be equally divided between all my children afore named (viz) Fancy Welsh, Richard Lester, Bryan Lester, Henry Lester, Nancy Smithson, Mary Crenshaw, Charlott Chaney, Frederick Lester, Benj F. Lester and Whitfield Lester.
Lastly it is my wish that my son Bryan Lester and Frederick Lester act as Executors of this my last will and testament. No surety required.
Which I have signed and sealed this the 26 day of January 1829 in the presents of Witness Silas Shelbourne, Miles H. Cooksey, Edward L. Bailey, Patrick H. Hurt

Lunenburg County June Court 1832 The last will and testament of Bryant Lester decd was produced in court and duly proved by the othes of Silas Shelburn, Patrick Hurt and Edward Baily subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Bryan and Frederick Lester the executors therein named who made on the thereto and entered into bond and security conditioned according to law certificate is granted them for affirming probate of the said will
