John Lines and his family were early members of the Salvation Army in South Australia.

• Husband of Mabel Harriet May Lines (nee Lyons) born Western Australia 1911. 
• Father of Margaret Clarke (nee Lines), Joy Budge (nee Lines) and Gay O'Neill (nee Lines). 
• Clarence Lines and Mabel Lyons were married 31st of December 1932  in Western Australia.
• Clarence Baden Lines was  born in South Australia October 1900.
• His siblings include: Olive 1895 born in South Australia and  and  Ernest Roy  born Unley, South Australia  1898,  Ruby Ellen, born Brown Hill, Western Australia, 1903. Other siblings that did not live for long include: Albert Lines (details unknown), Myrtle Lillian born 1896 died 1897, Eva Lavinia Lines born 1906, died 1907, buried in Kalgoorlie.
• Father of Clarence, Olive, Ruby and Roy is  Albert Edward Lines born South Australia and their  mother is  Mary Ellen Lines (nee Davey)  also born South Australia. Albert and Mary were married April 14, 1894 in NSW.
• Parents of Albert Edward Lines are  John Lines (son of George and Ann Lines)   and  Maria Lines (nee Nash) born Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire, England -  married in Shenley, Hertfordshire, May 16 1853. Emigrated to South Australia  aboard the Frenchman in 1858 with their two small daughters Ellen Amy and Fanny Lines.  
• The siblings of Albert Edward Lines are 
• Ellen Amy baptised  1854, born in Hertfordshire. Ellen Amy (Lines) Coulson below is surrounded by her four daughters.

• Percival (Percy) William Lines, 1875. Percy Lines is pictured below in 1951. Percy was blinded in a mining accident.

All of the children of John Lines and Maria Nash other than Ellen Amy and Fanny were born in South Australia.

John Lines born Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire, February 25th, 1832 to parents:

George Lines born sometime between 1795  & 1800 in   Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire  and Ann Dickerson (Dickinson) baptised (1801) Kimpton Hertfordshire. George Lines and Ann Dickerson were married in Wheathampstead,  February  16th,  1819.   George Lines signed his name and Ann signed  with an X.  Witnesses to marriage John Hibton and Elizabeth Dickerson,  ceremony performed by Joseph Doutonentry NO 66 sighted by Gay O'Neill (2002) in Hertford research library (HALS)  when perusing the Wheathampstead  microfilm of Parish Records. 

• William born 1819, George 1821, Edmund 1824, all baptised  Harpenden and Sarah 1826,  Samuel 1829, John 1832, Eliza Harriet 1835 were  baptised  in Wheathampstead.
• George and Ann Lines lived at Batford Mills Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire ( They appear in the 1841 census and 1841 Tithe records) George was a Blacksmith as were his sons and a number of his children's sons. Unfortunately at this stage I can only prove that George Lines was probably born in Wheathampstead around  1795 as this is what he stated in the 1851 Census taken in Luton Bedfordshire. He listed his age as 56 years. His birth does not appear in the parish records so I can not say who his parents were. In the 1841 census his age could be 40 or 46, it is hard to decipher.

George died 23 January 1880 in the Union Workhouse, Barnet, Hertfordshire stated age 80 years.
