He Maria Christian, daughter of Matthias Christian and Barbara Cron, on 12 February 1756 at Lockweiler. He married Maria Paulus, daughter of Johan Valentin Paulus and Johanna Loth, circa 1770. He died on 1 June 1797 at Lockweiler at age 69. Maria Haupert was born on 15 January 1717 at Buschfeld. She died on 19 October 1755 at Lockweiler at age 38.

5. Nikolaus MAUS ( Michael Maus, Johan ) was born on 18 February 1772 at Lockweiler. He married Margaretha Backes, daughter of Johan Backes and Anna Muller, in January 1794 at St. Jakobus. He married Katharina Collet on 12 May 1809 at Weiskirchen. He died on 27 January 1818 at Krettnich at age 45. Margaretha Backes was born in 1776. She died on 11 March 1809 at Thailen.

16. Michael MAUS (Peter, Nikolaus, Michael Maus, Johan ) was born on 28 July 1826 at Thailen. He arrived in New York in November of 1851. The census and his death certificate show he served in the military, however a search of the Military Pension records show no record for him. He may have served in the Prussian Army as he would have been about 28 years old when he arrived in the United States. He married Anna Maria BARTH, daughter of Peter BARTH SR. and Magdalena HUEBSCHEN, on 11 September 1854 at St. James, Mequon. He died on 9 November 1905 at Mequon at age 79. They appeared on the census of 1860 in Mequon. Anna Maria BARTH was born in July 1837 at Thailen. Her marriage record and death record did not list her parents. These are probable parents. She died on 30 July 1904 at Mequon of paralysis of the heart.

• 78. iv. Andrew MAUS was born on 4 June 1902. He owned the Donges Bay Garage on Port Washington Road in Thiensville, according to the 1923-1924 city directory. He was living in Milwaukee in 1931 when his father died. He died before 1972.

   

   

• 79. v. Leona Janey MAUS was born on 23 June 1904. She married William STUCKENBROCK on 27 November 1926. The witnesses at their marriage were Delvin and Hilda Barth. In 1931 they were living in Thiensville. She died on 5 January 1965 at age 60. She suffered from uremia, diabetes and cradiovascular ashd.

REUTER, son of Joseph Andreas REUTER and Anne Marie ROBEL, on 11 June 1904. The witnesses at their marriage were George Reuter and Lucy Maus. John was the informant for his father's death certificate. They were living at 328 E. Chambers in May of 1933. John was employed at Heider and Bott Company as a foreman. (This information from the 1939 Milwaukee City Directory.) She died on 31 May 1948 at age 64. John F. REUTER was born on 18 March 1881. He died on 3 October 1968 at age 87.

  51. Ludovica Anna MAUS was baptized on 28 August 1887. She married George Frederick REUTER, son of Joseph Andreas REUTER and Anne Marie ROBEL. on 18 May 1909. George Frederick REUTER was baptized on 6 March 1884. Her Godparents were John A. Barth and Anna Maus.

  The 1905 U.S. Census for Ozaukee Co., Mequon, shows the family as: Maus, Peter, age 44, born in Wisconsin, his wife, Ida, age 44; Mathias, age 20; Lucy, age 17; John, age 16; Mathilda, age 14; Clara, age 11; Emma, age 8; and George, age 2. After her husband's death in 1958, Lucy continued to live in their home on 2nd Street. The neighborhood began to decline and she sold the home and moved in with her son Edmund and his family. After her son Elmer's death in March of 1968, she became depressed and her health began to fail. She was placed in a nursing home where she died. After they moved to Milwaukee, he worked at the Schlitz Brewery. She died on 22 November 1968 at age 81. Buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. From childhood until the 1930's, George worked on the family farm. He died on 19 October 1958 at age 74. Buried at Holy Cross Cemetery.

  53. John J. MAUS (Peter, Michael, Peter, Nikolaus, Michael Maus, Johan was baptized on 19 July 1889. His Godparents were John Maus and Elizabeth Barth. He married Mary J. PIPER on 24 September 1912. Alfred Winner and Lillie Maus stated that John J. Maus and Maria Piper were married on 24 September 1912. He died on 28 May 1975 at age 85. Mary J. PIPER was born on 25 July 1893. She died in December 1972 at age 79.

Another SS record was found for Edward Maus. Edward Maus 10 Jun 1916 15 Mar 1989 53222 Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI 387-09-7397.

     

     

  55. Mathilda MAUS (Peter, Michael, Peter, Nikolaus, Michael Maus, Johan was born on 14 April 1891. She married John ROBEL, son of Claudius ROBEL and Hulda BLAUBACH, on 3 January 1912. They had a dispensation for a mixed marriage. She died in February 1974 at age 82. John ROBEL was born in October 1886. Information in his father's will shows that he moved to Milwaukee. In the 1924 city directory for Milwaukee, they are living at 1527 1st Street. He was a carpenter. Later, John and Tillie lived at 1385 9th Street in Milwaukee. I remember her as Aunt Tillie, my grandmother's sister.

  The four children of Mathilda MAUS and John ROBEL were as follows:

  • 120. iv. JOHN MATHIAS JR. ROBEL was born on 3 August 1916. Baptism records of St. Francis, Cedarburg, Page 111. He died before his 2nd birthday. He died on 16 July 1918 at age 1.

     

     

  57. Clara MAUS (Peter, Michael, Peter, Nikolaus, Michael Maus, Johan was born on 8 October 1893 at Mequon. She married Alfred WENDT on 27 October 1917. She died in September 1971 at age 77.

  59. Emma MAUS (Peter, Michael, Peter, Nikolaus, Michael Maus, Johan was born on 27 June 1897 at Mequon. She married Louis ENDERS, son of Bernard ENDERS and Mathilda ZEITLER. Marriage record #2440. They lived on 13th Street in Milwaukee. She died in October 1983 at age 86. Louis ENDERS was born on 11 December 1896. He was my Godfather, known as Uncle Louie. He was employed at the Milwaukee Sentinal and was in charge of laying out the front page. After eye surgery they moved to Albuquerque. He died in April 1977 at age 80.

   

  The only child of Emma MAUS and Louis ENDERS was:

   

  • 122. JACK ENDERS was born circa 1920. He married Joan HALL circa 1942. He is deceased.

     

     

  61. George MAUS (Peter, Michael, Peter, Nikolaus, Michael Maus, Johan was born on 2 October 1903. He married Helen KOWALEWSKI. He died in June 1976 at age 72. Helen KOWALEWSKI was born on 22 May 1905. She died in July 1984 at age 79.

   

  The only child of George MAUS and Helen KOWALEWSKI was:

She married Peter John BARTH, son of Jacob BARTH and Elizabeth THEIS, on 14 May 1912. She died on 24 July 1985 at age 91. Peter John BARTH was born on 9 June 1887. He was baptized on 19 June 1887. Baptized as Joannes Petrus. He died on 10 June 1975 at age 88.

   was baptized on 10 August 1893; married Margaret C. BLANG. He He died on 8 July 1984 at age 90. Buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Grafton.

  The two children of Elizabeth THIELEN and John N. BECKER were:
