Albert Hardy (50) licensed victualler, of the Greyhound Inn, Old Higham, was on Friday at Clay Cross
charged with being drunk whilst in charge of a motor car, at Oakerthorpe, on 3 September, 1929.
Mr. H R Cleaver, solicitor, Alfreton, appeared for the defendant and admitted the offence.
P.c. Wain said the defendant zig-zagged along the highway and eventually landed in a ditch.
He was drunk and unfit to be in charge of a motor and witness along with Sergeant Shimwell,
took him to the Alfreton lock-up.
Mr. Cleaver pleaded with the Bench not to convict, otherwise his client's license would be
automatically suspended for 12 months. A fine of £5.00 and costs was imposed and the defendant
handed in his license for endorsement
