Pre-Tested Participants
Family Tree DNA, of
course, remains our lab of choice for all testing all new participants. However
when we began this project, we discussed the possibility of receiving
participants whose DNA test results had been done elsewhere. Little did we
realize that this project would grow so quickly as to cause us to deal with
this subject so soon. We now have participants from all over the world, much to
our amazement and delight! Yes, we welcome these pre-tested participants as
long as they are willing to release their DNA results and are willing to submit
a pedigree for posting on this web page. The process of posting of this
information is outline in the paragraphs below.
Pre-tested participants
will not be added
to the computer system at Family Tree DNA, which currently keeps track of the
matches of all the people they test. As this project grows and more pre-tested
participants join, the chore of manually checking everyone’s DNA scores against
those already posted could very well become more than the project coordinator can handle, at least
with any degree of accuracy. So, for the time being, I will only attempt to
check for exact matches
only and let the interested reader take it from there.
Pre-tested participants
will receive a file number with the prefix letter “P”. This
will immediately allow the reader to identify someone as a pre-tested participant.
If we receive the
suggested haplogroup for each of these pre-tested participants we will, of
course, post that also. Otherwise, that column will be blank.
