Gustav Martin Holme, son of Ole Olsen Holme and Ingrid Eriksdatter, immigrated to the United States from Bergen, Norway with his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters in 1892. The family settled in Hanley Falls, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota.

In 1905 Gustav married Ingeborg Kvinge in Granite Falls, Minnesota. They moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1917, where Gustav worked as a roadmaster for the SP&S railroad.

Seven children were born to Gustav and Ingeborg, 3 sons and 4 daughters -
Hulda, Adena, Edna, Ervin, Gerhart, Marie and Donald.
