Obituary

Mrytle E. Kerns, 96, of Berkeley Springs, died April 22, 2004 at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital.

Born July 15, 1907 in Shockeysville, VA, she was a daughter of the late Baxter Kerns and Agnes Shockey Kerns.

She was a graduate of Shepperd College.

She was a Morgan County Elementary School teacher for 44 years, retiring in 1970.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.

She was an active member of the Church Missionary Society; a member of the Retired Teachers Association; church Children's Director; and a member of the church choir.

She is survived by one sister, Goldie Kerns, Berkeley Springs; two nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wendell Wayne Kerns and Kenneth Eugene "Tucker" Kerns.

Services were held Sunday, April 25, 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 110 S. Green St. in Berkeley Springs. Rev. Andrew Cooney and Rev. Gary Kerns officiated. Interment in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

Arrangements were handled by Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 36 S. Green Street, Berkeley Springs.
