Obituary
Maudaline D. Shockey Carver, 87, a
resident of Nella's Nursing Home since June of 2001, departed this life
Wednesday evening, March 13, 2002, at the nursing home. She had been in
declining health for the past several years.
She was born Jan. 1, 1915, at Long, a daughter of the late Harrison G.
Shockey and Missouri R. Currence Shockey.
On Oct. 25, 1948, she was married to Charles E. "Chick" Carver, who
preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1983.
Surviving are two brothers, Jacob Lee Shockey and wife, Rosemarie,
Baltimore, Md., and Neal Edwin Shockey, and wife Edna, Mabie; three
sisters, Mrs. Bill (Martha) Thornhill, Kansas City, Mo., Mary Ann
Chidester, Mill Creek, and Myrtle Weese, Norton, Ohio; several nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Bernard and Richard
Shockey, and two sisters, Edith Pastine and Virginia Shockey.
Mrs. Carver had worked at General Industries at Elyria, Ohio, and at EMTEC
for more than 20 years. She was a member of Delphia Rebekah Lodge 62 and
the Elkins-Randolph County Senior Center and a former member of the Melody
Chorus at the Senior Center.
She was a member of the Victory Baptist Temple at Lorain, Ohio, and after
moving to Elkins, attended Otterbein United Methodist Church at Elkins.
Friends will be received at Lohr-Barb-Vance Funeral Home today from 6 p.m.
to 9 p.m. Today, at 7 p.m. from the funeral home chapel, Delphia Rebekah
Lodge 62 will hold a memorial service. Final rites will be conducted from
the funeral home chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gregg Lanham
officiating and interment will follow at Elkins Memorial Gardens in
Elkins. |
