Obituary

Carrie Lois Shockey Bryant, age 71, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at the Candler General Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

She was a native of Breathitt County, a graduate of Lees College in Jackson, and was a schoolteacher in Breathitt County for seven years. She moved to Metter in 1995 from Chicago, Illinois, and was retired from Arkansas Best Freight Systems as a customer representative. She loved the outdoors and gardening.

She was preceded in death by a son, Alan Bryant; parents Hager and Dora Shockey; and brothers Arthur and Eugene Shockey.

She is survived by her husband, Ray F. Bryant of Cobbtown, Georgia; two brothers; James Shockey of Owingsville, KY; and Mitchell Shockey, of Mt. Orab, Ohio; three sisters; Willa Mae Haynes, of Chicago, Illinois; Tressie Thoreson, of Worth, Illinois; and Mary Poff, of Crestwood, Illinois.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home in Hooks Chapel, Georgia. Burial followed in the Lake Cemetery in Georgia.
