Lima
WILLIAM ROGER SHOCKEY, 77, died at 5 a.m. Nov. 16, 2002, at Beverly Health
Care Center.
He was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Lima to Clifford and Avonell Shockey, who
preceded him in death. On Aug. 20, 1954, he married Helen L. Williams, who
survives in Lima.
Mr. Shockey retired from Bechtel Construction Co. as an engineer. He also
worked for the Lima Locomotive Works and the Lima refinery. He was a life
member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Benevolent and Protective
Order of Elks Lodge 54, and American Legion Post 96. He attended South
Side Christian church. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Coast
Guard. He was a Lima South High School graduate.
Survivors also include a daughter, Billie J. Briggs of Lima; a sister,
Joyce (Edward) Pike of Destin, Fla.; two granddaughters, Cynthia J. (Eric)
Hall and Lisa R. (Brad) Miller, both of Lima; and six great-grandchildren,
Wesley Briggs, Katie Miller, Taylor Miller, Summer Miller, Brook Hall and
Conner Hall.
Services will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Siferd Funeral Homes, Westwood
Chapel. The Rev. Tina Dietsh will officiate. Burial will be in the
Woodlawn Cemetery, with military rites by the VFW Post 1275.
Friends may cal lfrom 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
