Obituary Cleon B.
Shockey, 79, of Ripley, WV, departed this life on October 31, 2003, at
Eldercare of Ripley, WV.
He was born on April 25, 1924, in
Ravenswood, WV, son of the late Harry Gordon and Maudie Taylor Shockey. He
was a charter member of the Ravenswood Church of Christ, and he was a
retired supervisor at Exxon/Mobil. He served in the U.S. Army in World War
II.
Surviving is his wife of 16
years, Frankie Carmichael Shockey, Ripley, WV; children, Theresa Cooper
and James Shockey, both of Sissonville, WV; grandson, Joshua Cooper,
Sissonville; stepchildren, Lynda Hutchens, Hawaii, Sandra Hutchens, Ft.
Wayne, Indiana, Bill Hutchens, Morgantown, WV, and Dan Hutchens, Athens,
GA; 10 stepgrandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren; brothers, William
Shockey, Parkersburg, WV, Robert Shockey, Ravenswood, Glen Shockey,
Parkersburg, and Ivan Shockey, Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by
his parents; his wife to whom he was married for 40 years, Clara Pepper
Shockey; and brother, Lester Shockey.
Services were held on Monday,
November 3, 2003, at the Kaiser and Douglas Church of Christ, Ravenswood,
with Evangelists Steve Poyet, Don Wright and Ben Jones officiating. Burial
followed in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends visited Roush Funeral Home,
Ravenswood, WV, on Sunday, November 2, 2003, from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m., and
one hour prior to service on Monday, November 3, at the church.
