Robert Lamar Shockey
Funeral services for Robert Lamar
Shockey, 35, of 620 Portage Path, who died at work in the former
Crowell-Collier Bldg. Saturday night, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday
in the Richards Memorial Home. Burial will be in Soldiers Mound, Fercliff
Cemetery.
Mr. Shockey, a relief operating
engineer at the Crowell-Collier plant, was found lying lifeless across
steam pipes at 10:15 p.m. Saturday by Clement Bowser, 818 Riverside Dr.,
the plant's operating engineer. Mr. Bowser made an investigation when Mr.
Shockey failed to make his 10 p.m. report. Mr. Shockey had been scheduled
to work the 3 to 11 p.m. trick.
The emergency squad of the Fire
Division responded to a call, but Mr. Shockey was dead on arrival. Death
was presumed to have occurred around 9:50 p.m.
Mr. Shockey was born in Clark
County Dec. 28, 1922, a son of Omer and Ometa Hyser Shockey, and had lived
all his life in the county.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He was an employe of the Donnelly
Co., of Chicago.
Survivors inclue his widow,
Pearl; one son, Michael and a foster-daughter, Terry Marlatta, both at
home; his mother, Mrs. Ometa Shockey of New Carlisle, Route 3; a brother,
Harry of New Carlisle, Route 3; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Smith and Miss
Dorothy Shockey, both of Dayton, Mrs. Ross Wilson of Springfield and Mrs.
Katherine Dunepace of Pemberville, O. |
