REVEREND PETER SMITH
INTRODUCTION
This page and all others pages
at this site are an attempt to pay tribute to my Smith ancestors.
In 1974 my Father gave me a hand-written record of Rev. Peter Smith and
his children. Included in this record were only Rev. Peter Smith's name,
date of birth, wife's name, her date of birth, date of their marriage and
both of their death dates. All of his children were listed in the same
manner. Rev. Peter Smith's sixth child, Abraham, along with his wife and their
children, were all listed the same. Also included was one of
Abraham's sons, William Werden Smith, and family. William Werden's son,
Marcellus L. Smith, had a daughter, Edith Mote Smith, who is my
Grandmother.
No locations of events were noted on this record and my father had no
additional information.
In 1998 I formally started researching the Smith family. In just two
years time I have met many wonderful cousins who have contributed a wealth
of information which has been included in these web pages.
According to written history, Rev. Peter Smith was born in Wales. After
much research and additional documentation from cousins, I found there is
a discrepancy. His forefathers were born in the United States so it is
unlikely that he was born in Wales. We are ever searching for more details
regarding his mother and father.
As research on Rev. Peter Smith unfolds, we find that our Smith ancestors
were well educated which enabled them to be engaged in a wide variety of
careers.
My goal, and that of all the researchers involved, is to provide as
accurate a history as possible with proper documentation of sources.
Hopefully information found on this web site will help with your research.
Please do not take information from these pages as it has taken some
researchers as long as twenty years to compile. We have provided the email
addresses of the researchers and we would appreciate that you contact that
person for more information. You may freely link to our page.
Thank you,
Jean Hehn
