GENEALOGY HUMOR PAGE

Bit of Humor: The July 2005 Rootsweb Review had this humorous item:
8. Humor/Humour: Doc Moves Up
Thanks to: D. Terry Huff of Woodcrest, California
While attending my mother-in-law's graveside services at the cemetery in Banning, California, we noticed a tombstone for a medical doctor who
was buried nearby. The inscription read, "Office Upstairs."
--
This got me to wondering, is there any Undertaker's tombstone that reads "office downstairs" ?  (J. Florian)

One day, the Horse Fly over in the Johnson farm's pasture didn't feel very good. So he flew across the fields until he went through the Doctor's office window, and perched atop the old metal filing cabinet.  He listened intently as the doctor asked the different patients about their medical complaints and if they knew their "ancestor's medical history."  Some patients "recalled" how their grandmothers had this disease and that ailment...  Finally all the patients had been seen and it was the Horse Fly's turn.  Since the doctor didn't usually treat insects, he did a an overall physical exam first. As the doctor ended this once-over, the Fly asked: "Aren't you going to ask about my Ansect-ors?"

I wrote this when trying to re-upload a large genealogy website:

Ah the joys of uploading at 3 in the morn'
The job must be done, but ah! forlorn!
My eyes cross, lids sag, sleep must come
But I lost count of the pages yet to be done.

Is no one awake? No friend near?
I wouldn't be bored if you were here,
To help me pass the long hours ahead
Uploading files when I should be in bed!

Some say I'm "committed," - and others agree
That I should be committed - for my own sanity!
But I argue "There's others who do the same!
Certainly those webmasters aren't insane!"

The upload has stalled for the umpteenth time
Wish my web-making friends were online
I'd say "Let's sit awhile, let's chat and see,
If you're the one who's crazy - or is it me?"

LOL - in the middle of a long upload I can't interrupt

The background was chosen specifically to emphasize the matriarchal role of women in "the life" of children and families, and the resilience of all the women of southwestern Pennsylvania.
