Where did they come from, who were their parents, when did they live?

LaVarre (died 1876)

Although I have learned more about my great-great-grandfather's short life, nothing is known about our LaVarre ancestors.

Questions remain:

Where is William LaVarre buried?

Jennie Andrews' first first husband (1869) and son (1874) are buried in Rose Hill. The oldest LaVarre son is also buried there(1893). Jennie is buried there (1895). But they were living near Myricks Mill in Twiggs County when LaVarre was murdered (1876). A cursory search of Rose Hill's transcriptions and transcriptions for Twiggs County's cemeteries don't reveal anything.

Where did the LaVarres come from?

William LaVarre isn't evident in any of the census records leading up to 1876.
Family lore relates that LaVarre may have been French Huguenot, immigrating to Georgia when the French Huguenots were forced out of Acadian region of Canada. There is also speculation that the name may have changed from "de la Varre" or "de Navarre".

Another theory proposes a connection to LaVarres who can be found in the Louisiana bayou region of the deep South in the 19th century.

Yet another researcher relates the tale of Epaphroditus Lavare, a Mariner who "died at sea", and who was the first husband of Rhoda Manchester (later wife of James Clark). This family was from the North, near the Massachusetts and Rhode Island border in the very early 1800s. James and Rhoda's daughter Mary married John Dexter and made her family in Killingly, Connecticut.

Finally, Johann LaVarre, a 28-year-old blacksmith, immigrated into Baltimore from Bremen, Germany in 1866. Where did he go?
