Stead
Yorkshire-born Samuel Lambert Stead immigrated sometime before 1850 settling first in Butler, Ohio where he lived with the family of Virginian John Riley, next door to his parents Gabriel and Rebecca Stead and his siblings: James, Jane, Ann Smith, Booth, and George.

Samuel married Mary Jane Moore (1838-deceased), also from Yorkshire, England, in Butler County on 7 Feb 1857. Mary Jane's parents and siblings had immigrated in the early 1850s and settled in Minnesota. My great-grandfather Eugene Anson Stead Sr. was the fifth of their six children.

My great-grandfather Eugene Anson (Ujance A) Stead was born about 1876 in Ohio. But between 1879-1880, the family had migrated far south to southeastern Georgia in Sweats, Ware County.

Before 1900, E.A., Sr. had moved to DeKalb County, near Atlanta where he raised his family with his wife, Emily Bertha White. They were married 10 Dec 1902 in Georgia and their children are:

Baby Stead (1904-1904)
Emily (Emma) White Stead (12 Jul 1906-Jan 1988)
Dr. Eugene Anson Stead Jr. (6 Oct 1908-12 June 2005 [obituary])
Mary Clio Stead (Sep 1912-20 Dec 1991)
Joyce Goodwin Stead (21 Feb 1914-15 Dec 1997)
William White Stead (14 Jan 1919-8 July 2004) [obituary]

Emily died on February 9, 1950 and E.A. Sr. died on May 14, 1957.
