Andrews

My great-great-great -grandfather was Dr. Reverend Lewis Feuilleteau Wilson (L.F.W.) Andrews. L.F.W. was the son of Presbyterian minister John Andrews, and a Unitarian Universalist preacher himself,as well as an editor, publisher and printer.

The senior Reverend Andrews was born in Maryland, but raised near Orange County, North Carolina. He married Pennsylvania-born Elizabeth Calhoun in Woodford County, Kentucky (their marriage license was issued on July 27, 1797.) Their oldest son John Calhoun was born in Kentucky and the family traveled to Ohio before settling in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Two younger sons were Lewis and Alexander.

As grown men, the boys' families were scattered to the winds, with John in Kentucky, Alexander in Pennsylvania, and Lewis in South Carolina and Georgia.

Lewis' children by his first marriage to Jane Gray were Caroline Matilda, Lewis Holcombe, Helen J., John C. , Jennie G., Fannie A., and Ellen L. Caroline died young and her sons Lewis and Harry lived with their grandfather after 1856. In 1864, John died at Darbytown Road in Virgnia, fighting for Company C of the Georgia 8th Infantry regiment.

Lewis married the widowed Mary Lamar after Jane's death, and they added one more son to the Andrews family.
