Joseph Miller and Wife

This Indenture made the twentieth day of May eighteen hundred and twenty.

Between Joseph Miller and Betsy his wife of the first part and Christian Shick of the second part all of Red Bank Township Armstrong County Pennsylvania.

Witnessth that the said Joseph Miller and Betsy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred and sixty dollars and eighty eight cents lawfull money to them in hand paid by Christian Shick the receipts whereof do hereby do acknowledge have granted bargained ansd sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell all the described tract of land with the appurtanances thereunto being bound as follows.

Beginning at a post north fifty degrees east twenty eight percels to a post south thirty five degrees east twenty percels to a stone north thirty four degrees east one hundred twenty four percels to a post north seventy seven percels to a post by lands of Michael Roads west by lands of Samuel Huffman one hundred fourty two percels to a stone south twelve and one half percels to beginning.

Containing one hundred and twenty six acers ninety two percels it being part of two tracts of land part being granted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to Timothy Pickering and others on Warrant No. 441 conveyed to Adam Mauhney by deed dated April 9th 1811 patented to Adam Mauhney May 22 1811 conveyed by Adam Mauhney by deed dated October 28th 1816 to William Huffman and part conveyed by the executors of Adam Mauhney (deceased) to William Huffman and part conveyed by Robert Brown sign by deed date February 8thh 1816 by William Huffman by deed dated November 20th 1818 being part of a tract of land warranted to Joseph Thomas by warrant No. 5582.

Containing 1075 acers.

And William Huffman did by deed dated November 20th 1818 conveyed the same to the said Joseph Miller.

To Have And To Hold the same and every part thereof to the said Christian Shick and to his heirs and assigns Forever

And the said Joseph Miller and Betsy his wife doth covenant and agree to with the said Christian Shick that they the said Joseph Miller and Betsy his wife their heirs exceutors and administrators to the said Christian Shick and to his heirs and exceutors and administrators and assigns that the above tract of land and evey part and parcel thereof they will warrant and forever defend against all and every other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming, or to claim the same or any part thereof.

On the twelth day of May before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said County personally came Joseph Miller and Betsy his wife and the within grantor and acknowledge the within written Indenture to be their act and deed, for the purposes therein mentioned and desire that the same to be recorded as such according to law.

She the said Betsy being of full age, and by me examined, seperate and apart from her said husband, and the content of foregoing Indenture being made know to her declared that she signed, sealed and delivered said Indenture of her own free will and accord without coercion or compulsion of her husband.
