At 24 years of age June became the mother of Scott BEVERLEY in Sydney, Australia, Wednesday 6th August 1958. At 26 years of age June became the mother of Brett BEVERLEY in Sydney, Australia, Wednesday 18th November 1959. At 28 years of age June became the mother of Mark BEVERLEY Saturday 21st July1962.

He was a student in Manchester, England, 1945. School: Trafford Grammar School. He migrated with Albert BEVERLEY Tuesday May 11, 1948.

NOTES RE; FAMILY HISTORY 1948 to 1977 Author LEONARD BEVERLEY

1948

May 11th: Leave England by Pan Am via Shannon, Newfoundland, to New York. Spent night in a Guest House in Flushing. TWA via Chicago, Kansas City, Phoenix to Los Angeles. United Airlines to San Francisco, straight on to a Pan Am flight to Sydney via Honolulu, Canton Island, Fiji and Noumea. Arrive Sydney 18th May. Stayed a few days at Hotel Oriental, Kings Cross, then successive moves to rented cottages in Bundeena and Cronulla, a holiday house called "Thalia" on the Esplanade, long since gone, which over looked Cronulla beach (I remember it had a flag pole in the front garden). I went swimming in May at Cronulla and wondered why I was the only one down there.

June: Dad buys house in Parramatta Street, Cronulla. Incidentally, it had been his intention to settle in Melbourne, he had transfered his money to the Commonwealth Bank there. I started work as an office boy for a firm of carpet importers in Civic House, Kent St.; 2 pounds 10 shillings per week, plus an allowance of 5 shillings per week for tram fares to and from the GPO. I saved most of this by running up and down George Street.

September?: Dad bought general stores in Caringbah. I started my accountancy career with a Chartered Accountant in Pitt Street. It was during 1948 when we became friends with the Gladman's and Tom & Hilda Booth.

1949

November 7th: Started new job with A A Geeves, 12, O'Connell Street.

1951

August: Coringbah shop sold. Rented house in Cronulla before we left for England. Can't realy remember address, though I can visualise the house. Maybe Coronation Street. I've got that name on my mind from somewhere.

September 3rd: Sailed for England on the "Orion" via Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Colombo, Aden, Suez, Naples, Marseilles and Gibraltar (you got your monies worth in those days). Arrived Tilbury early October.

October/December: Stayed with auntie Fanny in Wallington. I got a clerk's job with Stuart Surridge & Co. Makers of cricket bats, etc., who had their office near London Bridge. The working week included Saturday morning. In December it was damn near dark by 3.30pm.

1952

January: Early this month sailed from Southampton on "Himalaya".

February 2nd: Arrived in Sydney. Rented a house in Excelsior Road, Cronulla. While here dad bought the black Standard Vanguard. I re-started work with A A Geeves.

March: Dad bought shop in Harley Road, North Avalon, for a short period. Before moving in we lived in The Sphinx next door to Avis's.

1954

March: Shop sold. Moved to 172 Narrabeen Park Parade. Short term rental of house in Barrenjoey Road, just up the hill from the traffic lights.

1956

September 20th: June and me get married. Move into 22 George Street.

1973

Dad sells Warriewood. The worst move he ever made. Stayed at our house 20th, 21st October (I was in Perth) before moving into 5 George Street.

1977

November: Dad sold George Street and moved to Queensland. On Sunday 6th we had Dilly tranquilised by the Vet and took him to mascot for his flight to Gold Coast. I assume that mum and dad left a few days earlier.

Going through all this makes you realise how many different places we lived in. I know of seven addresses in England between 1932, when I was born, and 1948, when we left for Australia. This doesn't count stays with relatives when we were "between houses".

Historical events during the life of Leonard BEVERLEY: Amelia Earhart successfully lands in Ulster after crossing the Atlantic on her solo flight on May 21, 1932; Germany surrenders to the allies on July 5, 1945; The British mandate expires and the State of Israel comes into being on May 15, 1948; Britain goes against the UN and bombs Port Said on October 31, 1956; Severe birth defects are most likely the result of the drug thalidomide on December 31, 1958; 3,000 fans jam Kennedy airport waiting for the arrival of the Beatles on January 7, 1960; Tanganyika (Tanzania) a former British colony, becomes a republic on September 12, 1962; Riots flare throughout UK on October 7, 1981.

He married Rita CERASOLI in Marylands, Sydney, Australia, Wednesday 19th November 1986. (Rita CERASOLI is #41.) Rita was born in Sydney, Australia Friday 25th September 1959. Rita is the daughter of Antonio CERASOLI and Italia ANTONETTI.
