The Friweibel of Munsingen is instructed to collect the emigration tax of 10 percent on 250 crowns which Christen Hauser is taking away to Pennsylvania

Christian Hauser of Munsingen emigrated to PA some time ago with his daughter Anna and is now residing in Lancaster. Anna was married a certain Theophilus Hortmann there. Thrrough his proxy, Johannes Christe from the canton of Basel, who also resides in Lancaster, Hauser requests permission to withdraw his property of 50 loouis d'or in this country. This money was left in the care of Hauser's nephew, Abraham Linder of Lueg in the commune of Steffisburg. The government permits the withdrawal of the money in return for the surrender of the land-right and the payment of the emigration tax of 10 percent. Christe's warrant of authority is to be left with the commune as security.
It is stated that Hauser is a very aged man. It is supposed, then, that he had already been in America a long time. The warrant made out to J. Christe is dated August 17, 1762. It is only mentioned in the documents; no copy of it has been preserved.
