Putting on his best "pumpkin face", Austin
rises from the floor anticipating an exciting day at the pumpkin
patch.
Although it was
explained that Kaylie was just dancing, it almost looks like she has
gas.
Kaylie seems bewildered at the multitude of pumpkins.
Anne realizes
that there is even a pumpkin for Mollie-dog.
After a long
search, Debra finds the perfect pumpkin for Austin.
Kaylie listens carefully
to the story told by "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin eater". She became confused
when it came to the part about "putting her in a pumpkin shell". Since
when do pumpkins have shells? Pumpkins are not mullosks.
When the next pumpkin
began telling the "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin eater" story, Kaylie grabbed it
by the throat so she could inform it that she didn't want to hear the
story again. She also was checking to see if it, too, had a shell.
After
a long search, everyone had found the perfect pumpkin.
Kaylie let Nickki help return the pumpkin shopping cart.
After a
long day in the pumpkin patch, Kaylie changes into her princess outfit.
Somehow she got the idea that her outfit was scary and took delight in
frightening her family members.
Anne tries to smile
as the scary princess stands near her.
Kaylie felt powerful
as she held her "star on a stick" near her nose.
While Anne was out photographing
flowers, she snapped this shot of a pretty sunflower. Apparently this is
a new species of sunflower. It's latin name is Helianthus austinus.
As we were leaving the
pumpkin patch, we noticed several decorated pumpkins for sale. Kaylie
thought this one looked really scary!
Unknown to the rest of the
family, Andy has always had a desire to develop a modeling career. At
the cabin this summer, Andy displayed a new line of evening dance
dresses. This one is a red and white "Fushia Blossom".
Valorie uses a pumpkin pattern created from
a picture of Austin. Here she explains the process used to transfer the
pattern to the pumpkin skin, using a needle-pointed tool to trace the
pattern onto the pumpkin skin.
Austin confirms that it is only a short
time before he celebrates his first birthday.
Debra gathers Austin and Kaylie for a group
photo. Austin appeared to be confused whereas Kaylie was using her free
time to think of another funny prank to pull.
How Debra really feels after a day of
watching Kaylie and Austin.
Bob and Kaylie jump on the trampoline
As the pumpkin carving race is about to
begin, both Anne and Debra lose sight of the fact that you should watch
what you are doing when cutting with a knife. Anne is about to slice
into the end of her thumb.
Anne is the first to yank out pumpkin guts.
Meanwhile, Debra continues to carve her pumpkin with her eyes closed,
hoping and praying that her carving will prove successful.
Anne and Debra display their true feelings
when given a sharp object. Nickki appeared to remain neutral, whereas
Kaylie was totally absorbed with pumpkin guts.
Nickki and Kaylie are at a delicate point
in the pumpkin carving project. Anne and Debra are still removing
pumpkin guts. Bob lags far behind still perfecting his Vulcan mind meld
techniques.
Anne brings her pumpkin to life, showing
that Steve sports a wide smile and an ever-present cigarette.
Anne lovingly holds her pumpkin named
"Steve". Unfortunately, Steve was unable to smile for the
picture.
After hours of work, Anne displays her
pumpkin creation. If you look closely you can see that she has taught
Steve the bad habit of smoking.
Anne explains the complexities of the
carving tools. One is used for scooping. The other is used for stabbing,
cutting and dismembering.
Austin is unprepared for the onslaught of
licking that is soon to be delivered by Rhys. Unfortunately, Rhys only
the read the first two words on his shirt.
Austin attempts to explain how baseball is
played and why it is "America's Game".
As Bob lays his hands on the pumpkin he
uses a Klingon "mind meld" to communicate his intents to the
un-suspecting Halloween pumpkin.
Bob?
Debra works intently to form the features
of her pumpkin's face. It wouldn't matter if she said things to insult
her pumpkin, because her's was rather thick skinned.
Anne and Kaylie admire Debra's finished
work. Can you see the likeness of Nickki and Andy?
Kaylie guides Nickki's hand as they attempt
to define the features of the pumpkin's face. Were they making round or
triangle eyes? Was it one or two teeth?
Kaylie stops by after an evening of pumpkin
carving.
Kaylie shows confidence and poise as she
stands in front of her new vehicle.
Kaylie explains to the crowd that she and
her mom should trade cars. She used complex logic and big words and soon
her audience was very confused.
Lit from the inside, the pumpkins wait
outside the door to greet the visitors of the night with their warm but
eerie glow.
Trading in the old for the newer, Nickki
stands proudly by her new purchase. With power seats, airbags and new
technologies, this vehicle is a welcome addition to the family. A family
name for the car has yet to be revealed.
Nickki and Kaylie work together to create
the perfect Halloween pumpkin. I wonder how a pumpkin seed got into
Nickki's hair?
Nickki, Austin and Kaylie arrive for a day
of pumpkin carving. Kaylie brought her car but someone forgot to tell
Austin to bring his shoes.
Nickki shows that Austin really liked his
ice cream. He even managed to save a bit for later.
Kaylie seems more interested in the ice
cream scoop that in the pumpkin carving. Meanwhile a reaching hand
removes pumpkin seeds from Nickki's hair.
The results of our pumpkin carving, complete
with a scary black cat in the window.
And may we present, "Sugar, Spice and
Everything nice". We're not sure how the Austin cow fits in.
