Birthdays for Valorie and Nickki, dogs suck energy from humans, a mother's day production of "Star Was" - yes, "Star WAS"

Debra and Angel As members of the notorious "Betts Clan", both Debra and Angel appear innocent enough in this recent photo. Kaylie explained to the photographer that both Debra and Angel have taken jobs at the local cassino. Debra is the bouncer at the door, whereas Angel is adept at dealing blackjack. Nickki later was to comment that Kaylie is in BIG TROUBLE for telling fibs...or was that Bob who was in BIG TROUBLE? Valorie on her birthday A tradition in our family is to celebrate birthdays with a fancy dinner. Here, Valorie enjoys her before-dinner drink called a coffee nudge. Apparently she has been nudged a bit tipsy, as revealed by her rosey cheeks and her inability to remain perpendicular to the floor.
Bob with a Keg-sized Alaskan Amber Not to be outdone by Valorie, Bob was forced to order a second Keg-sized Alaskan Amber. When Valorie wasn't looking, he would pour out some of the drink, pretending to consume it. He even went so far as to appear to enjoy drinking it and leaning sideways as if the alcohol was affecting him. Valorie at the Keg The entire staff at the Keg came to applaud Valorie for being a member of the "clean plate club" and managing to pass another birthday anniversary. Kaylie noticed that our waitress must have been "sleepy-tired". In this picture, her eyes are closed and her hands were held together just like she does when sleeping.
Debra holds Austin Debra had to hold Austin while Valorie was being honored as a member of the "clean plate" club. Austin felt that he was being discriminated against. How can he become a member of the "clean plate" club when he doesn't even use plates yet? Lola wears a pretty hat Lola posed with her new hat and hair style. Lola is Kaylie's newest client, having recently visited her beauty salon. Kaylie, however, was upset that Lola didn't allow her to remake her hair in the "Deep Creek Windblown" style.
Angel and Kaylie Preparing to light the candles on the rhubarb upside-down birthday cake, an argument broke out as to the meaning of the number of candles on the cake. Angel insisted that Valorie is 11, obvious since there are eleven candles. Kaylie, however, suggested that there are two groupings of candles that reveal Valorie's true age. Kaylie sings Happy Birthday Kaylie used singing and sign language to lead the Happy Birthday song. Or maybe she was she trying to point out the proper method for lighting the pillar candles.
Kaylie blows out a candle Angel and Kaylie stare in fascination as a white substance drifts upward from the black tread on top of the pillar candle. Angel was going to grab at it, but Valorie rushed in and warned her that it might not be safe. Soon thereafter the white substance vanished, never to be seen again. Only a strange odor lingered in the air as a reminder of its existence. Lola holds Snicker Lola, having become associated with Kaylie's new hair salon, spent the evening practicing her art. Here she displays Snicker with the new hair style called "Swept Black". Snicker was not amused when Lola wanted to style her fur in the "Deep Creek Windswept" fashion.
Nickki and her birthday cake Nicki also celebrated her birthday anniversary this month. Kaylie was not to be seen in this picture because she was busy dialing 911. Fortunately Austin yelled to her that it wasn't a house fire, it was only a bunch of candles on mom's birthday cake. By the way, just how many candles do there need to be on a birthday cake when someone is no longer a teen? Nickki with her new VCR Nickki is seen smiling just before opening a birthday present called a "Toshiba". Kaylie was certain that this would be a helpful tool to create advertisments for her new hair salon.
Bob sleeps with dogs Although Bob normally stays up late at night and needs very little sleep, this picture is proof that dogs have an unusual ability to suck energy from humans. This is especially true when two dogs position themselves so that one takes energy from the upper body and one takes it from the lower. This sets up a bi-polar effect, causing the human to fall into a deep dreamless sleep. Anne Debra Nickki Using new technology, we were able to record Nickki's thoughts: "Oh, wonderful! Another picture....did you take it yet?....snap the picture....Snap It....SNAP THE PICTURE!" Meanwhile both Anne and Debra begin to curl into fetal-protective positions.
Taking a walk Wearing a wooden bird-feeder on her head, Anne takes hold of Kaylie's hand as she and Nickki go for a walk after a mother's day breakfast. Nickki Kaylie Anne return from walk Having returned from their walk, it was apparent that Anne had managed to remove the bird house from her head. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, one of the three managed to step into something smelly. The cast of Star Was on mother's day The entire cast of "Star Was" pauses for a picture. Ted, standing next to Luke Skywalker, gives instruction to Darth Vector, telling her that Princess Leia was using a new device called a camera. By the way, can you figure out who played the part of Jabba the Hutt? Click to see Jabba the Hutt.
Lola holds a cup called Tom Lola insisted that the cup only contained coffee, yet, why would she be using Tom's cup? What possibly could explain her silly grin? And to top it all off, she is holding the cup with the wrong hand! Come on, Lola, fess up. Just what did you have in that cup? Nickki arranges the roses During a darker moment of the "Star Was" production, Nickki grabs for a rose-scented laser weapon.
Anne (Princess Leia) and Paul (Luke Skywalker) Princess Leia greets Luke Skywalker who just arrived on his new starfighter. The craft is a member of the "shadow" class of starfighters. Click to see Luke Skywalker. Kaylie looks at a shadow Darth Vector, played by Kaylie, takes a break during the production of "Star Was". She is seen here admiring the shiny metal of the "Shadow" attack craft.
Ted holds Austin (R2-D2) Austin found the job of playing R2-D2 to be extremely exhausing. During another break in the action Ted has the duty of helping him learn his lines. Ted has difficulty making the correct squeeking noises that R2-D2 uses to communicate. Kaylie leads Valorie (Jabba the Hutt) over the line of demarcation Darth Vector arrives on the set of "Star Was" with Jabba the Hut. Jabba holds a blue serving dish that was used during the production to hold the chopped-up portions of those who dared to oppose their rule.
Paul fights with a rancor (Mollie) Mollie played the part of Jabba the Hutts beast, a rancor. The rancor is a fearsome beast. It is a meat-eater standing about five centimeters tall, walks on four legs and has some of the characteristics of a reptile. A rancor has disproportionately long arms, huge fangs and long, sharp claws. Here Mollie is shown fighting with Luke Skywalker. Click to see a Rancor. Bob (as evil Palpatine) and Paul (Luke Skywalker) In the mother's day production of "Star Was", Bob played the part of evil Palpatine, the power-hungry tyrant. Here the story takes a strange twist as Palpatine has consumed a poisonous, radioactive concoction given to him by Luke Skywalker. Click to see Palpatine.
