Brenda Sue Sharp Hiney (Granddaughter of Gettie Barnhill Harrell)

Brenda Sue Sharp Hiney, a resident of Garland, TX, for 12 years, passed away September 29, 2007, at the age of 44. She was born April 19, 1963, in Dallas, TX, to Glenn Spencer and Billie Sue (Horne) Sharp. Brenda was an easy-going, blue jean-wearing country girl who enjoyed listening to country music, collecting Indian figurines, taking care of plants and Max her Chihuahua. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother and faithful companion, and she will be dearly missed.

Brenda is survived by her mother: Billie Howser; son: Patrick Hiney; daughters: Candy Sue and Christine Nichole Hiney; companion and love of her life: Juan Salazar; grandchildren: Cheyenne, Marissa, Elizabeth, Jeremiah, Shelby, Emily, Joseph and Shalya; adopted son: John Joseph Salazar; brother: Glenn Sharp Jr. of Mt. Holly, NC; sisters: Sherry Kellogg of Springfield, MD, and Betty Ann Howser of Gastonia, NC. She was preceded in death by her father Glenn Sharp and grandmother Charlotte Sharp.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rowlett Chapel with Dr. Steve Leatherwood officiating. Visitation is prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00pm.


James C. Moore
Retired Army Staff Sgt. James Carl Moore, 78, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, in Haymont Rehab & Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at 3:30 p.m. in Mount Carmel Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Steve Enloe and Larry Barnhill officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

A visitation will take place from 7 to 9 tonight at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Letha Grace Moore; daughters, Suanne Hasty, Wanda Kinlaw, Jill Pope and Jan McLaurin; son, Wally Kinlaw; stepson, Ray Phillips; sister, Christine; brothers, Robert and Casey; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


David Archie Horne
Madison, Wis.
Archie David Home Jr., 70, died Feb. 12, 2008, after a valiant struggle with cancer.
The funeral will be noon Monday at Floyd Mortuary Chapel, 809 E. Fifth St., Lumberton N.C., the Rev. Charlene Guider officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

Archie was born on July 2, 1937, in Latta, S.C., He was the son of Archie and Gettie (Bamhill) Home. He grew up in St. Pauls, N.C.

After serving in the U.S Air Force, Archie married Karen Miller and raised a family in Madison, Wis. For many years he owned and operated Miller-Horne Discount in Madison. Later in life, he married Mary Salter and moved to Boscobel, Wis., where he raised longhorn cattle. In 1998, they relocated to Pardeeville, Wis. He enjoyed the outdoors, horses, flying, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Mary Home; his children, Dale (Janell) Home, David (Lori) Home, Renee (Mike) Rogers, and Dean (Shelli) Home, ail of Wisconsin; a stepdaughter, Mary-Brett Purnell of Raleigh N.C; 11 grandchildren, David John, Deidre, Kennedi, Jordan, Cutter, Haley, Payton and Brady Home, Alyssa, Amber and Ty Rogers; and two sisters, Jean (Lynn) Shepard, and Billie Sue (David) Howser.

A special thank you to Dean and Shelli for all your love and care during Archie's illness. Love, your family.

Memorials may be made to the family for his grandchildren's education fund.

The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.


Lester T. Barnhill  (Son of McDuffie and Rose Ella Alford Barnhill)

Mr. Lester T. Barnhill, 84, died Feb. 11, at his home following an illness.

Born March 3, 1923 in Mullins, Mr. Barnhill was the son of the late McDuffie Barnhill and the late Rose Ella Alford Barnhill.
Mr. Barnhill served his country with courage and honor as a Navy veteran of WWII, he owned and operated Barnhill's Body
Shop and was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Tabor City, N.C.

Survivors include: his wife, Colene Graham Barnhill of Tabor City, N.C.; two grandchildren, Brantley Todd Barnhill, Sr. and wife, Belinda, of Chadbourn, N.C., Chris D. Barnhill, and wife, Rhonda, of Green Sea; four great-grandchildren , Brittany Nicole Barnhill of Loris, Brantley T. Barnhill, II of Chadbourn, N.C., Taylor Alexander Barnhill and Katlyn Brooke Barnhill both of Green Sea; and a great-great- grandson, Kegan Blake Suggs of Loris. Mr. Barnhill is also survived by: a brother, Lloyd Barnhill of Youngsville, N.C.; six sisters, Elsie Townsend of Florence, Edna Carter of Chadbourn, N.C., Pauline Boswell, Inez Hewitt, Irene Thompson, and Thelma Barefoot all of Whiteville, N.C.

Mr. Barnhill was predeceased by: his two sons, Dennis Lester Barnhill and Ronald Brantley Barnhill and daughter-in- law, Diane S. Barnhill.

Funeral services were Feb. 13 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with burial following at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Tabor City, N.C. Dr. Jerome Smith and Reverend Robert Ray officiated.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 121 West Main St. P.O. Box 636, Whiteville, NC 28472. Hardwick Funeral Home handled services.

Carson Thomas Norton (Husband of the late Alice White, & son-in-law of George & Janie Barnhill White)

Mr. Carson Thomas Norton, 86, of Cherryville, formerly of St. Pauls, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Kathleen Dover Hamrick Hospice House in Shelby. He was born of February 2, 1922, the son of the late Charles T. and Lena Scott Norton.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 14. 2008, at St. Pauls Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. David Hodge and Raymond Faircloth Sr. officiated. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery in St. Pauls.
Mr. Norton worked for Burlington Industries and for McBess Industries.
He was preceded in death by other than his parents. They include his wife, Alice White Norton, a son, Carson T. Norton, Jr. (Tennie); brothers, Walter, Oscar, Arch, Gilbert, Odell, Eartle, Wallace and Knox; and a sister, Frances.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia C. Norton; a son, Ted Norton and his wife, Cynthia; a daughter, Janice Norton Breeden and her husband, Fred; five grandchildren, Rodney Grooms, Rick and Tina Grooms, Mary Alice Norton, and Charles Norton; and six great-grandchildren, Robert (TJ) Norton, Jeremy Norton, L. Ricky Grooms, Courtney Grooms, Tabitha Grooms and Rodney (Dusty) Grooms; a brother-in-law, David T. Carpenter; and a sister-in-law, Sandra N. Carpenter.
Pallbearers were Carl Owens, Donald Barnhill, Sparky Smith, Woody Smith, Bobby Faircloth and Bobby Pait. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Norton and Elmo St. Romain.


 Curlie Lee Martin
Obituary
LILLINGTON - Mrs. Curlie Lee Martin, 78, of Lillington, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. She was born in Hinson Cross Roads, the daughter of the late Arel Manning and Rose Emma Barnhill.

Mrs. Martin was the cherished wife of 35 years to James W. "Jim" Martin. She was a devout Christian, revered mother, loving grandmother and nourishing friend. She had a love for children that was indescribable. Throughout her lifetime, she fostered more than 100 children in Cumberland County, Harnett County and Gwinnett County, Ga., taking them in as if they were her own. Her positive influences changed the lives of many.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbur, James, Odell, C.M and Beaman Barnhill; sister, Gettie Harrell; daughter, Pamela Britt; and foster son, Jimmy Powell.

She is survived by her husband, James W. "Jim" Martin; sisters, Luttie Owens, Grace Moore and Mary Stone; children, Tina Bell (Jimmy), Cindy Guy (Ricky), Gary Edwards (DeeDee), Jimmy Martin (Dale), Barbara Laws (Jason), Ken Martin (Jennifer) and Gregory Martin (April), Gary Britt, and Eddie Britt (Candace); two special daughters, Johnya Hawkins (Keith) and Pamela Lackey (Jason); 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight, Thursday March 28, 2013, at Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services in Hope Mills. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, in Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Wake-Harnett County and Calvary Baptist Church in Lillington. Many thanks to the caregivers from the hospice, Kim, Cari, Patsy and Cheryl, who became a part of our family.


  Lutie Mae Owens

Mrs. Lutie Mae Barnhill Owens, 87, of Fayetteville, died Friday, June 21, 2013.

Services: Funeral, 11 a.m. Monday at Reeves Funeral Home chapel in Hope Mills. Burial in Lafayette Memorial Park. Visitation, 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Survived by: Son, Joe Creech; daughter, Linda Crawley; sisters, Mary Stone and Grace Moore; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

 Ronald Johnny Barnhill

Ronald Johnny Barnhill, 70, of St. Pauls, died Friday August 2, 2013 at Highland Acres Nursing Center in Lumberton. He was born in Scotland County March 2, 1943 to the late James Andrew and Launa Cole Barnhill.

A US Army Veteran, he served in Viet Nam, receiving the Viet Nam Campaign Medal w/Dev 60 and the Viet Nam Service Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Kay Barnhill; sister, Edna B. Kokochak; brothers, Donald T. Barnhill and his wife Jane, Joseph M. Barnhill, Sr. and his wife Joann and Harold Ray Barnhill and his wife Barbara; 3 stepchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday 8/5/2013 at 11 AM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home, St. Pauls, with the Reverends Aubrey Swett and David Canady officiating. Burial will follow in Ten Mile Center Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 8/4/2013 from 6-8 PM at McNeill Mackie Funeral Home, St. Pauls.


 Ralph Lynn Shepard, Sr., the husband of Jean Horne Shepard.

Ralph "Lynn" Shepard, Sr., 77 of Raytown, MO passed away, Saturday, November 29, 2014.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial with full military honors will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Wednesday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the DAV or to The Firehouse.

Lynn was born June 4, 1937 in Kansas City, MO and has been a lifelong area resident. He worked as a route salesman for Tastee Bread and Wonder Bread for a number of years and later was a dealer for Harrah's Casino and the Isle of Capri. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1955-59 and served aboard the USS Lexington.

He is survived by: his wife Jean Shepard of the home; a son, Ralph Shepard, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Kansas City, MO; 3 daughters, Genny Cox and husband Keith of Gladstone, MO, Gretchen Sayers and husband John of Shawnee, KS and Elfie Shepard of Grandview, MO; 8 grandchildren, Drew Smith, Kristen Cox, Rachel Shepard, Cory Shepard, Jackie Sayers, Mason Shepard, Melanie Shepard and Hadley Sayers and 3 great grandchildren, Dylan Smith, Peyton Barnett and Elliott Smith.


Major Daniel Barnhill

Major Daniel Barnhill, 83 died Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Columbus Regional Healthcare System. He was the son of the late Patrick Townsend Barnhill and Frosty Ellen Gasque  Davis.

Survivors include  his wife;  Ruthene Sellers Barnhill  of  Whiteville, N.C. , Daughter;  Janice Barnhill Creech of Whiteville, N.C.  , 2 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at  McKenzie Mortuary  Chapel with Rev. Tony Rippley and Rev. Ray Yow officiating .

Visitation will be Tuesday, at McKenzie Mortuary from 1:00 p.m. until 2:15  p.m. prior to the service.

  Billie Sue Watts Howser, the daughter of Gettie Barnhill.

Billie "Sue" Howser, 68, of Mt. Holly passed away on December 30, 2014 at Robin Johnson House in Dallas. Mrs. Howser was born in Bladenboro, NC on April 18, 1946 to the late Bennett Ward and Gettie Naomi Barnhill. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Brenda Sue Hiney and a brother Archie David Horne.

Funeral Services to Celebrate Mrs. Howser`s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday January 3 at Mt. Holly Church of God with Pastor Dennis Bean officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday January 2 also at the church.

Survivors include her husband David Howser. Children, Glen Spencer Sharp and wife Kelsi, Sherry Naomi Kellogg and husband Bryan, Betty Ann Howser, Summer Abigail Howser and Michael Preston Howser. Mother in law, Katherine Oldham (Granny). Sisters, M. Jean Shephard and Diffy Lewis and husband Danny. 12 grand and 8 great grandchildren.


 Hubert Barnhill

Hubert Barnhill, age 87 of Laurinburg passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Willow Place of Laurinburg.

Hubert was a son of the late Dozier and Blanche Barnhill born June 15, 1927. He loved serving God, making others laugh and enjoying life.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bernice Barnhill and sister, Marie Barnhill Broughton.

Hubert is survived by his brother-in-law, Major Broughton of Laurinburg; nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. with the service beginning at 11:00 on Friday, January 9th at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Old Hillside Cemetery. Pastor Michael Edds will officiate the services.
