           Time Line of Nelson Ferguson’s Life

 

-        Born July 1831 in Kingston, Upper Canada to Henry Ferguson and Lovina Winchell

-        About 1838 his mother dies. His father moves family to New York to be by Nelson’s Grandparents, Ambrose and Nancy Ferguson. Nelson also gets a step-mother named Margaret about this time.

-        1854 Nelson comes to Warren Township in Waushara County with his father

-        1855 Nelson gets his own farm in Warren

-        January 1st, 1856 Nelson is married to Christina Morse

-        1857 daughter Ella is born

-        About 1858 Nelson moves his family to the Grand Marsh area in Adams Co., WI.

-        1858 daughter Mary is born

-        1863 daughter Alice is born

-        1864 Nelson moves his family to Plainfield, Waushara Co., WI.

-        1865 son Lester is born

-        1866 son Clinton is born

-        1869 son Henry is born

-        About 1873 Nelson’s wife Christina dies

-        About 1874 Nelson gets married to a woman named Margaret

-        1875 son Orin is born

-        About 1876 Nelson moves his family to Pine Grove, Portage County, Wisconsin

-        Sometime after 1880 and before 1895 Nelson gets a divorce from Margaret

-        1885 Nelson’s father dies

-        In the early 1890’s Nelson spends part of the year clearing land in Iron River and spending the other part with his son Lester’s family back in Pine Grove. Eventually Nelson makes Iron River his year round home.

-        About 1907 Nelson becomes ill and has several surgeries.  He fights off death but never regains his strength.

-        July 8th, 1909 Nelson passes away
